Dragon Boat race for charity
This Saturday members of the Nicholas Associates Engineering team, alongside staff from our sister brands, all competed in a Dragon boat race for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice!
Fourteen teams made up of local businesses gathered at Manvers Lake to compete in the race, where there were many spectators who took along picnics and made a day of it. Those watching the race could enjoy the onsite cafe, bar, attractions for the kids and DJ, This day is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for good cause as well as a day for all the family to enjoy.
Our team put in 100% effort but were certainly up against it competing alongside teams of up to 16! To level the playing field a little family and friends of our team grabbed an oar and joined in.
Each team raced three times, the four teams with the fastest times then progressed to the final. Unfortunately, our team didn’t make the top four, however each run was improved upon
Heat 1 – 00.59.75 seconds
Heat 2 – 00.56.25 seconds
Heat 3 – 00.53.50 seconds
The winning team were very consistent with impressive times of 00.43.25, 00.43.08 and 00.45.57.
The day was a huge success and in total our guys raised an impressive £601.95 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice!
