How to survive Freshers Week 2022
Time is moving so fast and we’re halfway through September already, which means one thing…FRESHERS WEEK is upon us!
New university students up and down the country will be preparing for the next, and perhaps most exciting, stage of their lives. But do you know what’s in store? Find out how to survive the week in our Freshers’ Survival Guide…
What is Freshers Week?
Freshers Week, which is often referred to as Welcome Week, is a week full of events, activities and socials for new university students. After enrolling at the start, the opportunities are endless. You will have the chance to join a variety of social clubs, sports teams and extra-curricular activities, take advantage of free things and get to know your surroundings. Oh, and there are also a ton of student nights to get involved in too!
When does Freshers Week start?
For most universities across the UK, Freshers Week 2022 began last Sunday and will run all week. But for some institutions, it will not start until next week. It’s best to check your university website to see.
The Freshers flu
This is something that the party animals may be affected by. The dreaded ‘Freshers Flu’. You may be afflicted by this at some point during the week, but don’t panic. This is a name given to the common symptoms many students experience during Freshers Week thanks to their hectic drinking schedule – it’s a fancy name for the common cold.
Sign up to your university doctors and stock up on paracetamol, vitamins and tissues to keep you going!
Think about your budget
Although there will be tonnes of offers and cheap student nights, it can be quite expensive if you intend on going out every night. Make sure you budget for these events to make sure you can afford to enjoy Freshers Week without worrying about money. Think about taking cash out with you to keep you in line, when it’s gone it’s gone!
Take advantage of the freebies
You will have access to lots of freebies, whether it’s drinks tokens, cheap nights out, food bundles or things for your flat. Take advantage of these! Sign up for whatever you can and make the most of the free stuff!
