Dry January – 3 benefits

As it’s all about you, looking after your health is important, that is why we challenged our teams to Dry January. Some are doing it for charity, and some are just doing it for themselves! If you are thinking about getting involved (it’s not too late, tag a few days onto the end!) or if you’re taking part, here are a few great reasons to carry on!

1. Get your bounce back – cutting out alcohol can improve your quality of sleep, according to 70% of people who have previously got involved. It then meant that 66% of participants said they had more energy too. Get your bounce back this January!
2. Road to a healthier you – a month going alcohol-free can dramatically improve your health. It’s found to lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of diabetes, and bring cholesterol down. It can even reduce levels of cancer-related proteins found in your blood. Healthier you here we come!
3. Bulk out your wallet – January feels like a long month for your bank account. Going alcohol-free can help you out with that! 86% of partakers found they saved money by cutting out the drink, allowing them to spend more on other activities. Who wouldn’t want that?

Take up a new hobby

It’s also imperative that you’re having fun in life. As it’s all about you, why not start something new that you enjoy?

Many of us go down the stereotypical ‘new year, new me’ approach and throw themselves into fitness-related activity. We join gyms, we start running, we buy all the latest equipment. If you’re enthusiastic about fitness, why not challenge yourself to do the same? Walking the dog, playing a new sport, swimming. The opportunities are endless!

Maybe you’re not into the fitness side of life. That doesn’t mean you can’t start the year off right. Do you enjoy food? You could start cooking new recipes. Particularly fond of music? You might want to start playing the piano. Do you want to embrace other cultures? Try learning a new language!

If you’re passionate about something, you’ll enjoy it more. So choose something you enjoy and get stuck in this January! After all, it’s all about you…
